India Water Week 2012 "Water, Energy and Food Security - Call for Solutions" from 10-14th April 2012

The Indian Ministry of Water Resources is celebrating India Water Week 2012 on the theme "Water, Energy and Food Security - Call for Solutions" from 10-14th April 2012 at New Delhi. A copy of the "First Information Bulletin & Call for Papers" is attached for your reference http://mowr.nic.in/iww. The Conference will focus on issues such as:

  •          How water can be secured for crucial purposes like drinking water and food production, highlighting innovative and more water-efficient technologies
  •          How threats from water pollution in various parts can be minimized by innovations in industry
  •          Impact of climate change on water sector
  •          Awareness and education for achieving water security
  •          Rules and obligations that have to be linked to the "human rights approach" to water provision
  •          How does water management impact on food and energy security in the region
  •          How can the water-food-energy security nexus be measured and managed.

An exhibition is also being arranged from 10-12th April 2012 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. There is a vast scope for organizations and corporates engaged in water resources related business and water resources development organizations in the country and abroad to project the state-of-the art technology by demonstrating their capability, either in providing services or equipment, by taking part in the exhibition.

In the deliberations of the Conference, presentations are awaited from eminent national and international water professionals who are working on the various issues of water sector, about their experiences and the use of high technology in the developed countries, the resulting problems and the solutions adopted for their mitigation and about the actual performance on ground. An ample input of information and Experience both from national and international scene presented in the technical papers will be taken up for discussion and conclusions drawn to recommend concrete action both on a short-term as well as long-term perspective. The event is likely to be attended by more than 1000 delegates from India and abroad, besides Ministers of Water Resources from other countries.

Agencies involved with the development and management of water resources sector are welcome to send their contributions of papers and participate in the deliberations. Those who are interested to contribute the papers, are required to submit the abstracts of papers in 500 words, covering the themes mentioned in the enclosed Bulletin and submit the abstracts through the website latest by 15th December 2011.
